Chatham Branch Hosts Grand Opening Celebration

Farm Credit of the Virginias (FCV) recently relocated their Chatham, Virginia branch office to the Olde Dominion Agricultural Complex (ODAC). To celebrate the move, the association hosted a grand opening event on Thursday, October 24.

The celebration included light refreshments, a Yeti raffle, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the fellowship of the greater Chatham community. The crowd of attendees included customers-owners, FCV team members and directors, state elected officials, ODAC officers and directors, local business affiliates, as well as representatives from the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors, the Industrial Development Authority, the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce, among others.

The original Chatham office was built on Military Dr. in 1964, which was operated out of for over 50 years. Last October, the FCV leadership team was presented the opportunity to construct a new building at the ODAC.

The ODAC is a community-based facility located on US Highway 29 which houses numerous agricultural offices, an education and conference center, a 53,000 square foot arena, a livestock barn and horse stable, as well as weekly farmer’s markets. The relocation offered greater accessibility and convenience for customer-owners and increased visibility for the branch.

Peery Heldreth, Chief Executive Officer, shared, “Farm Credit of the Virginias is thrilled for the opportunities our new location and partnership with the Olde Dominion Agricultural Complex will provide. Alongside our colleagues at our neighboring agricultural offices, we want to see agriculture thrive in this region and across the country. We are proud to play a role in the strengthening of the rural communities we serve.”

Farm Credit has supported farming communities, like Chatham, for over 100 years with reliable, consistent credit and financial services, through good times and bad. Our loans help producers feed the world, rural business grow, and rural families thrive across the FCV footprint.
