Briefly describe your involvement in agriculture. I grew up on a farm. We raised beef cattle, hogs, corn and hay. When I was a senior in high school, my parents also started growing pullets for George’s.
Are you involved in any other clubs or organizations? We are actively involved in our church, Emmanuel Church of the Brethren.
What is your favorite holiday tradition? My favorite holiday tradition is spending Thanksgiving Day with our extended family. There is anticipation of the pending Christmas season without the hustle and rush of it all.
Where did you grow up? I grew up in Mt. Solon, Virginia, which is in Augusta County, and still reside there today. I now live a mile from where I grew up and we live three miles from where my husband grew up. We live near Natural Chimneys Park.
What is your favorite personal mantra or motto? When I reflect on time spent with family, this always comes to mind: “Enjoy the little things, for one day you’ll look back and realize they were the big things.” –Robert Brault
What is your favorite movie? One of my favorite movies is Fireproof, starring Kirk Cameron, a good, Christian-based movie.
What is your favorite season? I enjoy summer. My husband and I have a large garden. I like being outside and enjoying all of the summer activities.
Tell us about your hobbies. Most of all, I enjoy spending time with my family. I enjoy being at home on a carefree schedule opposed to traveling. I would like to have more time to cook, read and work on home projects.
What is your favorite place you've ever visited? When our children were growing up, we spent several vacations in Ocean City, Maryland. We enjoyed the beach atmosphere. We also vacationed with our extended family on a large farm managed by my uncle in Millbrook, New York.
What's your go-to productivity tip or trick? When I have a list of tasks, I prioritize by deadlines and how other people will be affected if they are not completed. When I am working on a large task, I take a break by completing a few smaller items that can help minimize my list. I try to stay positive and focused.
What is your favorite thing about Farm Credit? Along with the people and family atmosphere, my favorite thing about my career here at Farm Credit has been the opportunity to move from one role to another. I enjoyed working closely with our customers, processing loans, training and now, working with the senior leaders and directors. The knowledge and background I have gained in each of my previous roles over the years is beneficial to me today as corporate secretary.
What three words would your friends use to describe you? My friends would say I am friendly, caring and responsible.
What is your biggest claim to fame? My biggest claim to fame is being a mom. We are proud of our children and their accomplishments.
Has anyone in your family had a significant impact on you? My parents had a huge impact on me. They instilled in me a strong work ethic and perseverance that has helped me get to where I am today at work and in my home life.
