Employee Spotlight: Kendra McPherson

Briefly describe your involvement in agriculture. When we lived in Franklin County, we had a small cow herd, chickens, goats and even rabbits. We just finished building our home in Wythe County last year, so we are working on building up our little farm again. Right now, we only have chickens, but hope to add some more fencing and cows this spring.

Are you involved in any other clubs or organizations? I am very involved with my church praise team for which I play the keys and sing.
Has anyone in particular in your family had a significant impact on you? My grandmother, "Granny," was someone whom I strive to be more like every day. She was a very independent woman who put out a huge garden, loved to cook and can, and experienced great joy from giving to others.
Tell us about your pets. We have a Great Pyrenees named Willow (pictured below) and a fat yellow tabby cat named Cheeto.

Tell us your favorite decade and why. I loved the 80s for the music and the hair!
What is your favorite app and why? My favorite app is the Design Home app because I love interior decorating.
What is your favorite season? My favorite season is summer because I love warm weather, the beach and being outside. My birthday is also in the summer.
What is your dream vacation destination? I would love to visit Hawaii. I imagine that just being able to see the color of the water would be worth the trip. I would also enjoy the food!
What is your favorite place you've ever visited? My family loves to visit Edisto Island. We have vacationed there for many years to enjoy the beach, the food and the solitude.

How do you define success? To me, having success is knowing you have done your very best.
What is your favorite thing about Farm Credit? I am really enjoying my work at Farm Credit. My fellow employees are so friendly and knowledgeable. My favorite thing is the collaboration. There is a lot of teamwork, and everyone is willing to help each other.
What would you sing at Karaoke night? I would definitely sing a Reba McEntire song for karaoke as I love country music, love Reba and of course, we both have red hair!
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why? The superpower I desire would be the ability to fly. I don't like traveling on the interstate and I don't have a lot of patience, so being able to fly and get places quickly would be great.
