Farm Credit Supports Wellspring of Greenbrier with Supply Donations and Monetary Contribution

Farm Credit of the Virginias (FCV), a lending cooperative serving Virginia, West Virginia and western Maryland, recently donated supplies and made a monetary contribution of $5,000 to Wellspring of Greenbrier, a nonprofit based in Rupert, W. Va.

Founded in 2004, Wellspring of Greenbrier provides food, clothing and other life essentials to southern West Virginia’s disadvantaged, unhoused and transient populations. Wellspring of Greenbrier’s mission resonated with FCV, which is why FCV chose to support the organization as a part of their recent company-wide meeting, “All Hands.” FCV employees donated cleaning supplies, hygiene products and food items, which they brought to their recent All Hands meeting to organize and package up for Wellspring of Greenbrier.

Abigail and Josiah Spangler, Executive Director and Director of Operations for Wellspring of Greenbrier, respectively, attended FCV’s All Hands meeting to speak about the history of the organization, the critical services they provide and the programming they offer to marginalized individuals in Southern West Virginia. During the meeting, they were also presented a monetary donation of $5,000 from FCV, in addition to the supplies donated by employees.

“On behalf of Wellspring, I would like to thank Farm Credit of the Virginias for their generous support. Through the monetary donation and the hundreds of bags of hygiene, cleaning and food supplies, we will be able to better serve those in need in our community,” shared Abigail Spangler, Executive Director.

“We appreciate Chris Baylor (credit analyst and member of FCV’s All Hands planning committee) and his help organizing this partnership to support our organization. Speaking at the All Hands meeting was an excellent opportunity to spread awareness about the growing need for assistance with our programs in Southern West Virginia,” stated Josiah Spangler, Director of Operations.

FCV’s Chief Brand Officer, Katie Frazier, said, “Our support of agriculture and our rural communities extends beyond the financial services we offer. We are proud to lend added support to our customer-owners through our commitment to giving back and strengthening the communities they call home. It is an honor to partner with Wellspring of Greenbrier to help advance their valuable programs in Southern West Virginia.”
